Sophia Tedesco is the administrative assistant at the Vilcek Foundation, where she provides support for human resources and information technology-related functions.
An avid arts lover, Ms. Tedesco is thrilled to be working at the Vilcek Foundation, building upon her experience at other arts-driven organizations including the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in the Hudson Valley, New York, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
While completing her studies in communications and journalism at the George Washington University, Ms. Tedesco supplemented her education with positions at leading media institutions: She served as a collegiate representative for the New York Times, coordinating campus focus groups on preferred coverage topics and distribution methods; as a public relations assistant for NPR’s Us & Them podcast, scheduling interviews and creating publicity materials; and as director of media and public relations at SBU-TV, overseeing a submissions campaign for the Stony Brook Film Festival that garnered over 500 student entries.
Ms. Tedesco is especially passionate about film, classical music, and the performing arts, and can often be found attending screenings and performances at one of New York’s many arts venues.
