Welcome to the dARTboard, a digital art space developed to share the creativity and accomplishments of immigrant artists working in this emerging field.
In our second annual exhibition, we are proud to present the work of Swiss-born artist-engineer Marc Böhlen, whose innovative use of custom-made information-processing technology sheds an unfamiliar light on everyday items, such as a cup of water or the accent of a computerized PA system.
Here, Mr. Böhlen presents two thought-provoking works, WaterBar and MakeLanguage – Synthetic Accents, which investigate the ever-evolving relationship between people and the automation systems that play central—but often unnoticed—roles in our everyday lives.

About the dARTboard
The dARTboard marks an exciting expansion in the Vilcek Foundation’s arts program. It recognizes the widespread shift to digital, which not only has transformed journalism, publishing, and the advertising business, but has also opened doors for artists working in new media, enabling them to experiment freely, innovate, and be widely accessible to a global audience.
As an organization that inhabits a relatively small niche, our online presence is an invaluable extension of the Vilcek Foundation experience; it is, in fact, our primary channel for distribution of cultural content outside the New York City area. Thus, it seemed only fitting that we spotlight exceptional creativity in this new domain.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the dARTboard.
