Laura Cianciolo

Executive Assistant

Laura Cianciolo is the Vilcek Foundation’s executive assistant. She works closely with senior staff and the board of directors to facilitate both the inner workings of the office and the foundation’s numerous projects, events, and programs.

Ms. Cianciolo is well-served in her position by both her professional and academic experiences.  As a litigation paralegal for Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, she helped coordinate the complex logistics required to run a law firm. As a government affairs intern with the office of Massachusetts Governor Deval L. Patrick, she collaborated with high-level staff to produce timely and effective legislation, and handled correspondence from the state’s constituents. As a researcher and office assistant for Common Cause Massachusetts, a nonprofit, nonpartisan citizens’ lobbying organization, Ms. Cianciolo provided administrative support while also researching and developing a set of policy suggestions for maximizing voter turnout and increasing public access to voting locations in the state.

A graduate of Connecticut College, Ms. Cianciolo pursued her interest in government and politics throughout her academic career. She received a grant to research the democratic trajectories of Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon, resulting in an honors thesis that will be published in 2019 as a volume in professor Alex Roberto Hybel’s seven-part project on democracy worldwide.

  • A Message from Jan and Marica Vilcek

Our founders arrived as penniless refugees over fifty years ago, but with the kindness and opportunity they received in the United States, they went on to accomplish great things in biomedical science and art history. Read their statement on the recent executive order imposing a travel ban.
